The U.S. Embassy is aware of dangerous unrest in Dakar and throughout Senegal, notably in the following locations:
Ngor, Ouakam, Yoff, Medina, Grand Dakar, Grand Yoff, Patte d’Oie, Keur Massar, Parcelles Assainies, Pikine, Rufisque, Mbour, Ziguinchor, Cap Skirring
In Dakar, Ngor has been especially active with clashes between police and protests resulting in heavy use of tear gas. Reports of road closures and demonstrations affecting traffic on Airport road between Ngor Circle and the Stadium.
Also, there have been reports of Senegalese Army units being deployed in areas of Dakar and Ziguinchor solely to protect infrastructure.
There is currently a ban on motorcycles in Dakar until midnight on June 3. Sources expect this ban to continue through the weekend.
Protests should be expected throughout Senegal and may occur sporadically.
American citizens are strongly urged to avoid any areas where such events are ongoing and maintain situational awareness. If the Embassy receives more specific information regarding dates and times of demonstrations, marches, or gatherings we will send updated alerts.

- Monitor local media for updates.
- Avoid crowds.
- Avoid demonstrations.
- Be aware of your surroundings.
- Exercise caution if unexpectedly in the vicinity of large gatherings or protests.
