Background and funding opportunity description 

The U.S. Embassy in Dakar in collaboration with the U.S. Department of State’s Bureau of Population, Refugees and Migration (PRM) is pleased to welcome proposals for the Julia Taft Refugee Fund from potential partners working to assist refugees in Senegal.  This support is meant to meet low-cost, critical gaps in refugee protection and assistance.

PROGRAM DESCRIPTION
The U.S. Ambassadors Fund for Cultural Preservation (AFCP) supports a wide range of projects around the world, including in Senegal and Guinea-Bissau, to preserve cultural heritage. The U.S. Government created the fund in 2001 to assist developing countries efforts to preserve their cultural patrimony. To ease the administrative work, the Center in Washington, has divided the application process into two rounds and reduced the amount of information required up front. The first streamlined round will collect project ideas from applicants in the form of concept notes (2 pages), due January 11, 2023. In Round 2, the Embassy will invite applicants with promising ideas to submit full project applications, due April 18, 2023.Generally, no more than one project per country is selected.  Preservation projects should take place over a period of 12 months; financing is non-renewable.
