Several hundred Marines will be training in Senegal through October on multiple missions including disaster relief and humanitarian aid training.
While in Senegal, the U.S. Marines, who are usually based in Spain, are scheduled to conduct training with Senegalese forces, continuing our long-standing military cooperation.
“The connections we’ve made with the Senegalese military – an important security partner – improves our shared readiness,” Ambassador James Zumwalt explained. “This training will enhance our collective security.”
The Marine Corps will also do exercises on how to protect U.S. missions abroad under the direction of U.S. Africa Command.
During the training, there will be various press availabilities. For more information, call the Information Officer at the U.S. Embassy in Dakar at 228 879 4355.
