The May 17 broadcast of Grand Jury on RFM discussed the U.S. role in the Casamance peace process.
The U.S. Embassy wishes to clarify that the role of the Casamance Adviser ended in November 2014 and that these functions were reintegrated back into the U.S. Embassy to Senegal. The Casamance Adviser position was originally established to encourage and aid other actors in pursuing peace negotiations and was never intended to serve as a mediator. U.S. Ambassador to Senegal James Zumwalt oversees this function now as part of the overall mission of the U.S. Embassy to Senegal. He visited Casamance in April 2015.
